Work Preparation is a very flexible, individually-tailored programme which, as its name suggests, helps disabled people prepare for work. Work Preparation can help disabled people to:
* return to work after a long period of sickness
* overcome barriers associated with disability, or
* get ready for their first job.
Work Preparation is about building confidence and helping people to overcome barriers to getting, or staying in, work, combined with looking at other types of work through short-term trials in the workplace. Work Preparation programmes involve sessions to build confidence, identify suitable work opportunities and develop skills in applying for jobs; or short unpaid work placements with local companies. Programmes normally last around six weeks but can be extended up to 13 weeks if necessary.
