Way 2 Go
Funder: Comic Relief
Location: County wide.
Aims
Way2Go project offers vocational advice, guidance and support to young people aged 14 to 21 who are involved with the NHS Early Intervention Team. Way2Go employs two Young Peoples Vocational workers to deliver the project throughout Cornwall. The project which started in August 2006 has proven to be very successful on many levels; from supporting young people experiencing an episode of psychosis to maintain their current education, employment or training to empowering a young person who has been disengaged from vocational activity for a period of time to reengage and fulfil their dreams.
An extract from a card sent to the project from a young person who has just completed his first year of a Modern Apprenticeship, combining full time work and college and with his hardwork and commitment is sure to become a qualified carpenter. - "thank you for everything you've done for me, such as getting me back into work and your moral support, I never would have imagined a year ago about having the job I've got now. All I need to do now is work my way through college and I will be the qualified carpenter I've always wanted to be."
