About Us
Pentreath is a Cornish charity providing support and guidance to people across Cornwall and Devon who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health.
We were formed by Cornwall and Isles of Scilly health authority in 1991 (now known as the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board) as part of the care in the community shake-up which saw the of deinstitutionalisation of mental health care in the UK. We initially provided training and employment through in house social enterprises including a nursery and wood working workshop for former patients suffering from severe and enduring mental ill health.
Over time we have evolved to suit our client’s needs, however our core aim of promoting good mental health through personal development, education and employment has remained. Today, we are values led, person centered charity that employs 135 staff across Cornwall and Devon. We are proud to work alongside a range of funders, delivering a variety of projects that provide direct support to both young people and adults.
Our organisational values are based around approachability, inspiring others, empowerment, inclusivity and knowledge. These underpin everything we do and we pride ourselves on delivering 1;1 support to participants in a professional but friendly, welcoming service which is based on respect, shared values and a desire to see people achieve their potential.
We currently have staff co-located in community mental health teams, GP surgeries and jobcentres across Cornwall and Devon and we continue to look for ways that we can work in partnership with other organisations to develop our offer for the future.
We are a front line service and always open for referrals. To make a referral please click on the ‘refer to Pentreath’ link at the top of this page.
