Thank you to Dre and His Friends!

Dre, who is one of our colleagues here at Pentreath decided to complete a challenge with his male friends to raise awareness of men’s mental wellbeing.

Dre and his friends used to meet, as men do at times, to either have a drink in the pub or to watch football. But one thing they realised is that by doing this, they weren’t really finding out how one another was. A quicker response would be given and things could easily be fobbed off. So one day, one of the friends said, ‘why don’t we meet and walk across the moors?’ Instantly they recognised a difference in their meetings and feelings started to be spoken about. They couldn’t believe the difference in their friendship and how much easier it was to be open with one another when they weren’t sat across a table but enjoying the outside instead.

After a while they decided to set themselves a challenge of climbing the National Three Peaks in 24 hours. They also decided if they were going to do this , they may as well raise money for a mental health charity. They kindly chose us.

The challenge was completed across the last weekend of April 2025. Despite it being hard work, they all thoroughly enjoyed it and said it brought them even closer together.

At present they have raised £1500 but are still waiting for some donations to come in!
