Supporting People at Every Step: Pentreath Celebrates 35 Years with Platinum Wellbeing Award

Pentreath is celebrating a major milestone in its 35th anniversary year after being awarded Platinum status in Health and Wellbeing by Investors in People.

The prestigious recognition reflects Pentreath’s long-standing commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive and people-focused culture, placing staff wellbeing at the heart of the organisation and strengthening the support it provides to people and communities across Cornwall.

The Platinum accreditation is the highest level of recognition awarded by Investors in People and is achieved by only 7% of accredited organisations. The award recognises organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace wellbeing, leadership, inclusion and support for their people.

For 35 years, Pentreath has supported people across Cornwall experiencing mental health challenges through employment support, recovery services and peer support. The charity’s mission is to empower people to build confidence, develop skills and create meaningful futures through personalised pathways into education, employment and community life.

The award recognises not only the organisation’s approach to staff wellbeing, but also the wider culture of compassion, collaboration and empowerment that underpins its work.

By supporting the wellbeing of staff and volunteers, Pentreath believes it can provide stronger, more consistent support for the people and communities it serves.

Jemma Knowles, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Pentreath, said:

“We are incredibly proud to receive this Platinum recognition during our 35th anniversary year.

This award reflects the dedication, compassion and commitment of our whole team. Every day, our staff work alongside people across Cornwall to help rebuild confidence, connection and opportunity.

Creating a supportive and inclusive workplace is incredibly important to us because when our people feel valued and empowered, they are better able to support others on their own recovery journeys.

The recognition comes as Pentreath continues to expand its partnerships with employers, NHS services and local organisations to improve mental health recovery and prevention across Cornwall.

Carolyn Inger, Pentreath’s We Invest in Wellbeing assessor, said:

“Pentreath are one of the most complex, diverse, and ever-changing organisations I have worked with. They are also one of the best.  I consider you an exceptional organisation.

The organisation motivates everyone to try to reach their full potential, and leads their team with passion, enthusiasm and purpose. Pentreath aims to provide the highest levels of support for its clients and its own staff. It is very clearly recognised that staff dealing directly with sometimes complex and distressing cases need the best support and care themselves.”

Looking ahead, the charity remains committed to building inclusive opportunities for people experiencing mental health challenges while continuing to develop a workplace culture centred on wellbeing, kindness and community impact.
