Pentreath have been part of the Royal Cornwall Show since 2018 when we became their chosen charity of the year.
It was such a wonderful year that we continued to attend so we could help and signpost people to the right support.
Last year, one of our trustee’s said ‘the show has a new secretary, why don’t you approach him and see if you could have a bigger pitch and more charities involved?’……so this is exactly what we did!
Katie, Communication and Engagement Coordinator put an idea together in an email and sent it to her contact at the show. Within a few days she was asked to go in for a meeting to chat about the idea further.
Mark Stoddart, secretary of the show, agreed that a bigger area with more charities would be very beneficial to the show and the people who attend. He asked if Pentreath could host the tent, which of course we agreed to, and to go back to him with a list of charities we would invite.
It seemed important to invite charities that covered different aspects of mental wellbeing. We didn’t want lots of charities who do the same thing. So, the invited charities were Man Down, Georgia’s Voice, Papyrus, Active Plus, Sunrise Cornwall, Cornwall Rural Community Charity and Kooth……and they all said yes!
The three days were an absolute success and we spoke to hundreds of people about support available in Cornwall….we even got to meet HRH Prince William who took a lot of time to learn about each individual charity, the work they do and how the originated.
We cannot thank Mark Stoddart and his team enough at The Royal Cornwall Show for all the support they gave us to make this happen. We hope to return for 2026 💙💛
